Karl was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan where he started playing guitar at the age of 8. His interest in guitar playing led him to Chicago where he studied classical guitar as a performance major at Roosevelt University in the early 1990's.
 

In 1996 Karl migrated west to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Since then he's playing all around Denver, working on his craft in bars, beer gardens, coffee shops and country clubs.
