A native of Denver, Colorado Damon “Dae Dai” Jones was bitten by the performance bug at a very young age. Damon’s life would change dramatically after being accepted to tour overseas as a cast member of ‘Up With People’. It was this experience that confirmed for Damon the necessity for musical expression in his life. Since then he has opened for artists like MC Lyte, Case, Foxy Brown, 112, JAY Z, Goapele, Floetry, The Roots and more.
While acting as lead singer for Future Jazz Project, Damon established his presence in Denver as an R&B force to be reckoned with. Under Damon’s vocal leadership, Future Jazz Project was voted Colorado’s best Jazz & Soul band at the Westword Music Showcase for 2004 and 2005.
Most recently Damon founded Five Foota Music Group, LLC to indulge his passion for songwriting and arranging. After devoting much of his time to contributing to the projects of various other artists and many requests, Damon has finally slowed down to complete his long awaited solo CD soon to be released by Timeless Music Group/ Five Foota Music Group (TMG/FFMG)
Artist Statement
I’m glad I waited this long to finally complete a solo CD. Timing is everything and I think for me now is simply the right time. Over the years people have been surprised to learn that I’d not released a solo CD before now but in terms of my experience and what I’ve learned up to this point, it makes perfect sense. I’ve matured, my voice has matured, my level of discipline has matured… This CD is everything I was, everything I am and everything I hope to be. I’d like to think that much like a wine, this CD will be “sweeter” and go down “smoother” because it’s been allowed to age at it’s own pace. More importantly, I can officially say that I’m ready now. …I’m confident listeners will be able to hear and feel that on this album.
